80th Birthday (Western Calander) Celebration of HH Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche

On Saturday, Sept. 20th, 2025, We celebrated His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche’s 80th Birthday as per western Calendar. The event began at 9 am and carried on throughout the day, bringing together a diverse group of people from all walks of life in reverence and love of the spiritual teacher who has touched many lives.

The day was filled with cultural performance, heartfelt prayers and joyful celebrations. The Chief guest of the event was Etobicoke-Lakeshore, Members of Parliament Mr. James Maloney who gave a speech recognizing the importance of such Sakya Choekhorling and also University of Toronto’s Buddhist Studies Professor Frances Garrett grace the event. Sakya Choekhorling President Khenpo Kunga Sherap la gave updates on the renovations status, it’s process and future plan.

The highlight of the event was when Tibetan Childrens read out the biography of His Holiness the Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche in Tibetan and English. They did amazing job in reading and leaving such a remarkable example for the rest of young people of our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who attended and contributed to making this day so special, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate His Holiness’s life and teachings for many years to come.
